History of the Musikkapelle Röthenbach

In the year 1840 the musician Josef Mader and the teacher Hermann Prinz from Röthenbach founded the association "Musikkapelle Röthenbach" with approximately ten musicians.
Although there aren't many notes in the chronicles about the activities in the first 50 years, it can be assumed that the main purpose of the club was to support the church services and town festivals with their music.

The church services are still one of the traditional performances for the band. On "Corpus Christi" or the "Ascension Day" the band plays during the church services and the processions, and thus, the traditions live on.

Thanks to oral traditions, it is known that the band performed at music festivals in the nearby cities of Wangen and Lindenberg in the 19th century. It can be presumed that the musicians were skilled and the music was already on a high level.

During World War I, nine members of the band went to the front. Several did not return alive. After the war the band was reformed. New members were added, and the ensemble began to achieve acclaim for its high level of musical achievement.
